The Rice Review is proud to launch its 14th edition. The theme of this year's magazine is "dwelling." The issue organizes prose, poetry, and art in conversation with this idea and Houston's ongoing recovery from Hurricane Harvey.

Rachel Conrad Bracken, a sixth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of English, is one of two graduate students awarded the 2018 Graduate Teaching Award for Independent Instruction by the Center for Teaching Excellence at Rice University.
The department is pleased to welcome Hayan Charara as an instructor this semester. Charara holds a PhD in literature and creative writing from the University of Houston.
